Love your newsletter and how I found it through another awesome female writer, Sarah Jacobson of Big Feelings! The Dune Market on Long Beach Island (NJ) is one of my fav female founded stores - everytime I’m lucky enough to get away to LBI I must stop in to see what beautiful home accessories, cards, candles and books Emily has thoughtfully curated! They also have a website and will ship, I think you’d love it!
My favorite local owned business is Brass Owl in Astoria (by Astoria-local Nicole). She does so much for the community from having regular pop up shops of local neighborhood female makers to running an organization of shop owners on the block (many of which are also women owned) to work together to bring more events to the neighborhood and collaborate (for example she’ll often have a shopping party weekend with discounts and drinks from Queens Room across the way and cookies from a local home baker).
I love this so much! I have been working on my own list of women owned small businesses as it is my goal for the year to purchase more from those instead of big corporations! My favorite women owned small business is probably Anka Snider. She makes the most beautiful jewelry! They're so colorful and make me so happy!! Thank you so much for sharing this great read!
Yay for Earth is my go lotion for my face, sunburns, dry patches. I talk about it every other day. Also HAVE to shoutout my mom who owns Cleary Custom Cabinets on Long Island. 💕
hi, Melanie!!! what a fun mix here. just checked out Stevie's site—love what she's up to. and cabinets are such a cool business. my mom just redid her kitchen in Buffalo and I know she would have loved to have been able to support a female-owned business. great rec for our tri-state peeps!
Hi Kayla, love this week's edition :) so inspiring to read about the 2 founders! My favorite female founded business at the moment is a local business in the town I newly moved to about 6 months ago (in Germany) . It's called "Das gute Haus" which translates to "the good house". It is a meeting place/play ground, market place and working space to connect people and especially families to create the village you need to raise kids, that so many of us don't have close by today as we live further away from our relatives, move for jobs etc. It's the first time I have come across this concept and wish it would exist everywhere!
hi, Franziska! that is such a cool concept. I feel like so much of Europe understands and implements the concept of the 'third place' better than the US. would love to see more of these hybrid spaces to be in community. thank you for sharing!
Love this!!! So here for all the incredible female owned brands - I really enjoyed reading through these comments so far! My favorite female founded business right now is CUYANA. I'm super inspired by Karla Gallardo and the brand as it embodies timeless design and quality while prioritizing sustainability. Has truly changed my perspective on investing in my items!
hi, Victoria!!! wait I love this answer so much. their store in Nolita is devine. I’ve been using their ‘Classic Easy Tote’ and the laptop insert for years as my work bag and it looks brand new. BIG fan!!!
Skida Winter Ski Apparel (of course) is my fave!! Corinne Pervot, founder and owner has add colorful "positive vibe" styles to Snow White slopes!! Love this issue, Kayla...we need DAILY DOSES of companies "creating a positive impact". Thank you!!
Didi!!!! I love seeing your name here so much. thank you for always being such a big supporter of The Sunday Series. clocking Skida for my next ski trip. which, speaking of, I was with David last night and he can't wait to see you in Telluride soon xx
One of my favorite female founded businesses is in Mexico City, Menat Studio! They make world-class ceramics designed to help you live and eat beautifully. It's true though! When you buy their ceramics it elevates the everyday in a way that makes you feel like you're treating yourself over and over again.
I came across their studio on a work trip to Mexico City. We were out to dinner and the second we sat down everyone was flipping over their plates to investigate who made them - they were absolutely gorgeous! I couldn't figure out where to purchase any of their ceramics locally so reached out on Instagram and ended up with a private visit to their studio. One of the Co-Founders, Kristen Zarkin, gave me a tour through the studio while I shopped around. I learned that they were founded 10 years ago (!) and have grown to be competitors now of some of the largest, most establish ceramics manufacturing businesses that we have in the US. It was a really cool experience. I ended up leaving with probably 50 lbs of ceramics that I toted home for myself and as gifts for others :) If nothing else bookmark this spot for your next trip to Mexico City. I promise it will be worth it!
I can't thank you enough for sharing this beautiful story. CDMX is a magical city and now I know where I need to visit next time I go! I love picking up ceramics on my travels—especially when a story this rich is at the heart of a brand.
Some of my favorite female founded businesses include ClassPass (have had my membership going strong since its inception!), Ring Concierge (where I buy a lot of my jewels), my mom's jewelry business Theresa Rose Designs, MERIT Beauty, Kosas, and in my wine education journey I have been targeting trying wines from various female winemakers.
soooo much goodness packed in here, Chels! have loved seeing Ring Concierge's growth in recent years and how lucky are we to have the Bleecker location so close? we need a date to taste some of the vintages from these female winemakers!! x

You would love Laura! She has a Substack too called Since You Asked.
