25 by 25

"how many countries have you been to?"

This question incites a natural competitive response and simultaneous cringe within me. Today, I see country counts listed as a badges of honor in influencer Instagram bios, noted as signals of authority in email signatures (welcome to the travel industry) and even pursued as world records.  Like anything, a country count is "just a number," but they represent so much more than passport stamps.

Awhile back, I'd decided that I wanted visit 25 countries by the age of 25.  The concept formulated during my first semester studying abroad and despite numerous attempts, I could never quite shake it. So, I've kept a little list of my travels in chronological order that I wanted to share with you below.

The moments captured in the photos above are just a glimpse into the impressions these destinations left on my heart. It's so much less about adding a new country to the tally, and so much more about the little pieces I take with me each time I go somewhere new. Here's to hoping the pursuit of new places never slows down...
